Assistant Forest Officer Dronaraj Acharya said 56 huts at Magaragadi and 36 at Padanaha were dismantled with the support of local forest users groups. Landless people had been living in these huts for the last 10 years, Acharya added. The representatives of landless families in the district have criticised the authorities for chasing away the homeless.
