The ex-Gurkhas, however, have stated that they would announce another round of protest, claiming that the report prepared on the direction of PM Cameron failed to recommend the British government to address their demands.
They said that the report is quiet on the matter of Gurkha soldiers being denied equal pension and other facilities in line with their British counterparts.
Contrary to her wishes, the former Gurkhas also rejected to accompany Price, who also chairman of the parliamentary committee, to hand over the report to PM Cameron.
Earlier, Price had told the ex-Gurkhas that the committee could not recommend the British government to end pension disparity as a case concerning Gurkhas’ rights is sub-judice in the European Court of Human Rights.
Addressing a gathering of ex-Gurkhas after handing over the report to PM Cameroon, Price said that she will be supporting ex-Gurkhas with their struggle to get their rights addressed. Gyanraj Rai, director of the Gurkha Satyagraha Joint Struggle Committee, informed that they would start their protest again as the report does not recommend the British government to address their demands.
The ex-Gurkha soldier’s demands include equal pension and other facilities in line with their British counterparts, the right to live and work in the United Kingdom and free medical treatment for their children above 18 years of age.
