The top leaders including Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had reached the conference venue— Lhotse Hall in the Constituent Assembly Building to attend the event and Minister for Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs Narahari Acharya was all prepared for the all-party conference.
The coalition partners have argued that the CPN-Maoist had missed the crucial opportunity of constitution making while the CPN-Maoist leaders say that chances for holding the conference were still alive.
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli said that postponement of the conference at the last minute was not good and added that the constitution writing job will move ahead as per the CA calendar. "CPN-Maoist missed a golden opportunity, parties representing in the CA now should move the constitution writing job ahead as per the CA routine," Oli said.
However, CPN-Maoist vice-chairman CP Gajurel said efforts would be continued for holding the conference in the four-party taskforce though the all-party conference was postponed for today.
At a news conference in the party office, Buddhanagar, Gajurel accused the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) of not being in favour of taking decisions from the conference. Gajurel added, "Relevance of the conference is no more as it was not given right to take any decision and forge consensus."
Likewise, the UCPN (Maoist) leader Girirajmani Pokhrel said that nonparticipation of the CPN-Maoist was a mistake. "They would have put their issues at the all-party conference. They did a mistake by boycotting the conference," Pokharel said.
Furthermore, NC vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the recent move of CPN-Maoist has proved that their demand for the roundtable conference was just a pretension.
Likewise, NC leader and Minister Acharya said that CPN-Maoist's rejection to sit for the conference at the last hour has created further suspicion.
