Facilities to be stopped for defaulters of NEA
A task force formed for raising the dues of Nepal Electricity Authority has prepared an action plan to stop all government services to its customers who have not paid their dues.

It was constituted on the basis of the minister level decision of energy minister. NEA has some 2,500,000 domestic customers out of total 2.6 million. NEA has to raise some Rs. 3.52 billion from them and Rs. 640 million from those in black list.
It has dues of Rs. 1.23 billion from industries and businesses and Rs. 1.85 billion from street lamps.
As per the action plan, the defaulters will be stopped of services including in citizenship, passport, driving license, drinking water, house map, pension, salaries, contracts, bank loan, among others.
Their detailed identity will be published and lines will be cut. It is prepared to raise Rs. 8 billion dues as NEA is in Rs. 4.5 billion deficit, said Committee Member Surya Shiwakoti.
Minister Radha Gyawali had instructed for raising the dues and the ministry had constituted a committee headed by Joint Secretary Moti Bahadur Kunwar. Process will be forwarded for action after receiving the action plan from the committee, said Minister Gyawali.
