The declarations, which were made for the formulation of the future programmes and activities of the event’s organizer South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF), are advocating a Saarc convention on women entrepreneurship, creating a South Asian women entrepreneurship symposium online market and developing a regional project. A regional convention on women entrepreneurship needs to be formed to implement the first declaration.
“As one of the goals of Saarc is gender equality and the empowerment of women, it is important to form a Saarc Convention on Promoting Women Entrepreneurship, said the SAWDF in a press release.
Under the second declaration, the conference decided to form a marketing platform for women entrepreneurs to market their products in the Saarc region. Third, a regional project through a public private partnership will be established with a focus on promoting women entrepreneurs’ enterprises through the establishment of green industrial parks in each country.
According to the organiser, 40 women business leaders from the Saarc region and Myanmar participated in the conference. The conference was aimed at bringing South Asian women together with a focus on developing institutional linkages to share experiences, identify best practices and work towards issue-based collaboration.
