Nepse launches mobile app
Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday officially launched a mobile application that facilitates easy dissemination of information to the users.
Speaking at the launch event, Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat said the app could help convey right and timely information to prospective investors. “As the stock market is one of the major indicators to assess the economy’s performance, the use of advanced technology in the sector could boost investment,” said Mahat, stressing on the need for an online trading system.
The app enables users to view live trading and stay updated with events, profiles and index fluctuations of individual companies, and details of the stocks traded by brokers on a daily basis.
Nepse General Manager Sitaram Thapaliya said they introduced the application to promote the stock market with the use of information technology. “As the app also has alert system, prospective investors do not have to go without investing due to the lack of information on time,” he said.
Nepse developed the new app in association with software developer Braindigit IT Solution. The app can be downloaded on handheld devices running on iOS and Android operating systems.
Nishchal Pradhan, managing director of Braindigit, said the app accommodates index summary, live trading updates and watch list, among others.
The watch list helps the investors know about the company’s details. “This could assist the investors to manage their investment portfolios,” he said.
Babu Ram Shrestha, chairman of Securities Board of Nepal, said the app could help attract investors even from outside the valley.
