Addressing the inaugural function, Shrestha said the office would help boost trade between the two countries, and it can play a catalytic
role in promoting investment areas like tourism, trade, financial services, joint ventures and franchises, besides regular remittance services.
The bank has been facilitating convenient remittance service to the Nepali workers residing in various cities of Malaysia through its online remittance system Himalremit since 2003. The Bank has partnership arrangement with fourteen different Malaysian local remittance companies to facilitate remittance service to Nepali workers.
The office will promote Bank and Himalremit Brand among Nepalese workers in Malaysia along with educating the workers for using legal channels of money transfer for transferring their earnings to their family members in the home country.
