Doctors at Bharatpur Hospital on Friday staged demonstration expressing solidarity with the demands raised by Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging indefinite hunger strike in Jumla since Saturday. Dr KC is on the seventh day of his 15th hunger strike seeking reforms in country’s medical education sector. Nepal Medical Association, Chitwan chapter, had organised the demonstration to press the government to fulfil Dr KC’s demands.
The NMA Chitwan Secretary Dr Bhojraj Adhikari said the doctors at the hospital will continue their protests every day until Dr KC’s demands are addressed. The NMA central member Dr Krishna Poudel said that if the demands made by Dr KC are met then it would be in the interest of Nepali people. He added that the Medical Education Ordinance Replacement Bill introduced by the government was counterproductive to the medical education sector. (PR)
