Commander of the US Army Pacific (USARPAC) General Robert B Brown arrives on Thursday for a four-day visit. A senior Foreign Ministry official on Tuesday said the Nepal Army has made arrangements for his visit including meetings with senior political leaders.

Brown is known to have good ties with the Army as Chief of Army Staff Gen Rajendra Chhetri visited the United States last year.

Gen Brown will be the second high-ranking official to visit Nepal after the elections to the local, provincial and federal levels. External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj concluded her two-day visit to Kathmandu last week. He is the senior most US official to visit Nepal after the elections.

The armies of the two countries work closely in various fields including military hardware and software, disaster management, peacekeeping operations and joint military exercises, among others.
