Come December 11, incidents of any form of violence against women can be registered online.
Tulsiram Sedhain, secretary at the National Women Commission (NWC), said on Friday that the online registration facility to register VAW cases is being launched with a view to providing prompt justice to the victims.
“This initiative of the NWC coincides with marking of 16 days activism against gender-based violence,” said Sedhain at a the end of a two-day conference programme organised by the Asmita Women’s Publication Group, Action Aid International Nepal and the National Women Rights Forum in the Capital on Friday.
The facility will come into operation a day after the 16 days of activism against GBV ends. The 16 days of activism against GBV is marked every year from November 25 to December 10.
Speaking at the programme, senior researcher Meena Acharya called for male members’ support to reduce the burden of women in household activities.
The two-day conference, focusing on identification of the service-oriented unpaid work of women and ensuring their economic empowerment, saw participation of 250 women household workers from 35 districts across the country, said Sarita Shrestha, executive director of Asmita Women Publication House.
Barun Kumar Jha, director of the Department of Labour, said all the women movements can yield positive results if they are based on social and cultural values.
Sita Sunuwar, a homemaker from Dakshinkali Municipality, said male members of the family should also help females in household activities so that women also can work outside.
