Women and Children Officer Pushpalata Upreti said the Biratnagar-based Child Helpline agreed to help the victimised girl.
She was brought to the Bhojpur district headquarters from Dharan on Tuesday. She was left in the lurch after the perpetrator took her to Dharan on June 30.
The girl is in CWIN’s shelter in Biratnagar. She was raped by 20-year-old Durga Bahadur Shrestha while she was alone at home in December last year.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kaji Kumar Acharya said Shrestha, who is in police custody, has been charged with rape.
In Dharan, a woman had helped her get in touch with her maternal uncle and aunt. They had approached the District Women and Children Office for help.
Her mother came to know about the girl’s condition only when she was seven-month pregnant. Local health officials had said it was too late for abortion.
