The body of folk singer Khem Raj Gurung was taken to his home district, Sankhuwasabha on Sunday, so that his well-wishers could pay their tributes. Following the request of his well-wishers, Gurung’s body was flown to Khandbari, the district headquarters of Sankhuwasabha, in a helicopter. The body was kept at Tundikhel for an hour before being brought to Kathmandu for cremation.
Gurung, who was being treated for liver infection at a Capital-based hospital, died on Thursday. He was 41.Born in Sankhuwasabha, Gurung recorded 12 music albums during his career.
He is best known for his song, “Wari Jamuna, Pari Jamuna”.
