The main opposition CPN-UML has said the Local Body Restructuring Commission (LBRC)’s proposal based on the terms of reference (ToR) given to the commission by the government led by the party will be acceptable to it.
The LBRC has proposed 565 local units across the country.
“The UML is for timely elections as decided by the previous government,” said UML Vice-chairman Bhim Rawal after a meeting of the party on Monday. “The proposal of the LBRC is not the final one, as it is yet to receive suggestions from the local level, and we have said that the ToR provided to it comprehensive. If the commission follows the ToR, there won’t be much of the problem,” said Rawal.
“The meeting today did not discuss the number of local units. We are for having a report from the LBRC as soon as possible and elections at the earliest,” said Rawal.
