PHSC grills five ambassador nominees
Out of the 22 nominees, hearing of the remaining three proposed career diplomats will take place todayThe Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) on Tuesday conducted hearing for five ambassador nominees.
Sewa Lamsal Adhikari, Tara Prasad Pokharel, Prakash Kumar Subedi, Durga Bahadur Subedi and Rishiram Ghimire, all joint-secretaries at the Foreign Ministry, answered questions posed by the committee members.
The government had recommended Lamsal as the ambassador to Pakistan, Tara Prakash Pokharel to Brazil, Subedi to the United Nations Office in Vienna, Subedi to the UK and Ghimire to Russia.
Presenting their agendas, the nominees expressed their commitments to strengthening and expanding Nepal’s bilateral relations with foreign countries, emphasising economic diplomacy.
Hearing of the remaining three proposed career diplomats will take place on Wednesday morning. The government had recommended 22 ambassadors and chiefs of mission in total.
