UML-tied civil service union gets most votes

Chief Election Officer Gita Prasad Timalsena said the association secured 44.39 percent or 21,127 votes. With the victory, the NCSEA will claim the chairperson and treasurer posts, according to civil service leaders.
The Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Civil Servants Employees Union obtained 34.16 percent or 16,259 votes to secure the second spot while the CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Nepal National Civil Servants Employees Association garnered 10.57 percent or 5,027 votes.
The NC-affiliated union will get the post of secretary general and the Maoist-affiliated trade union will get the vice-chairperson’s post.
The Nepal Madhesi Civil Servant Employees Forum garnered 7.48 percent or 3,561 votes.
After it failed to secure 10 percent of the total votes cast, the Madhesi union will not get any position. From 55,329 listed voters, 88.73 percent or 49,095 had cast their ballot, Timalsena said. As many as 1,501 votes were invalid.
The UML-affiliated trade union was declared winner at the President’s Office, Vice President’s Office, Office of the Prime Minister, the Public Service Commission and the ministries of foreign affairs, tourism, law, energy, women and children, forest, information and communications.
