Deuba, Swaraj discuss Nepal political situation

Nepali Congress President and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday met Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi and discussed Nepal’s political situation and post-quake reconstruction efforts among other issues.
Deuba is currently in the Indian capital for the treatment of his wife Arzu Deuba.
Congratulating Deuba on his election as the president of the Nepali Congress party, Minister Swaraj conveyed India’s continued goodwill for Nepal’s overall development, peace and stability.
Abhaya Thakur, chief of Nepal Desk at India’s Ministry of External Affairs and other officials were present during the 30minute meeting.
Nepal’s Ambassador to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay said it was courtesy call.
Deuba’s wife Arzu, who is also a Congress lawmaker, is undergoing treatment at the Gurgaon-based Fortis Hospital. According to Deuba’s aide Bhanu Deuba, Arzu will be spending some more days in the hospital hence the couple’s return date is yet to be fixed.
Earlier, Deuba had said he would not hold any political meetings in India.
