Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur has warned of stern protests if the government continues to ignore the demands of the agitating parties.

“We were disregarded while drafting the constitution and while amending it. The decision to form a political mechanism to settle the federal boundary dispute was also taken unilaterally,” Thakur said at the Reporter’s Club in Kathmandu on Saturday. “If this indifference towards us continues, we will announce fresh protests including border blockade,” he warned.

Thakur also demanded an immediate end to suppression, curfew orders and prohibited zone announcements from the government. He warned that the Madhesi Morcha would resume its protests at the Nepal-India border points if the government suppressed their peaceful demonstrations.
