Situated at the eastern side of the Valley, Bouddha Stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist shrines. This Stupa is in the UNESCO’s list of world heritage and is known as one of the biggest Stupas in the world.
According to a local legend, an angel named Jyajima had provided the land for the construction of Stupa to her four sons who had shown religious inclination.
The reconstruction and renovation of the Stupa has recently started after it was badly damaged by the earthquake of April 25.
The Boudhanath Area Development Committee has said that it will take two years to complete the reconstruction works.
The Stupa sees a crowd of Buddhist monks and followers chanting slogans while circumambulating it during early morning and evening every day.
A special ritual held on a daily basis adds to the serenity of the Stupa.
