Reconstruction of quake-ravaged Doleshwor Mahadev temple begins

Kiran Thapa, senior vice chairman of the Doleshwor Mahadev Temple Management Committee, said that the reconstruction works will be carried out in pagoda style at an estimated cost of Rs 45 million.
He added the committee aimed to complete the two-storey temple within two years.
The reconstruction works include reconstruction of a stone spout, a Dharmasala (pilgrim's resting place), a guest house, a crematorium, temples of various gods and goddesses in the temple premises.
Spread on 24 ropanis of land, the temple constructed in the pagoda style during the regime of Lichchhavi dynasty, which had developed cracks at its various parts in 1890 B.S. earthquake and later was damaged by devastating 1990 B.S. earthquakes, had been reconstructed in 2006 B.S. in the dome style.
