Today- Wednesday- is the first death anniversary of Nanda Prasad Adhikari from Fujel of Gorkha district, but he is yet to be cremated. As the government has not taken any measure to cremate the dead Nanda Prasad, his body is languishing in Box No 4 of TU Teaching Hospital's mortuary.
Moreover, with the same demand of punishment to the murderers of son Krishna Prasad Adhikari, Nanda Prasad's widow, Ganga Maya continues to fast-unto-death at Bir Hosptial but in vain.
Nanda Prasad died on the 333rd day of the strike. The Adhikari couple staged hunger strike together many times, with Ganga Maya still on it.
On the first death anniversary today, Ganga Maya lit the lamps sketching Nyaya Khoi? (Where is Justice?) at a programme organized in front of the Bir Hospital. "It has been 12 years my son was killed, but no justice. So, either give me justice or kill me; I don't want to live a torturous life," she wailed.
In 2061 BS, 16-year-old son Krishna Prasad Adhikari was shot to death. Although many including Chhabi Lal Poudel, Jamuna Poudel and Ram Prasad Adhikari were accused of involved in the murder, they are left scot free.
At the programme, human rights activist Kapil Shrestha said it was quite worrying that although the murderers were identified, they were not brought to justice.
