The party, which has been demanding to declare the nine districts East of the Arun River as Limbuwan state, has warned that it would burn the charter at 5 pm on September 20—the day of its promulgation.
Organising a press conference at the party headquarters in Damak of Jhapa district on Thursday, senior leader Sanjuhang Palunga said that they would form a parallel government and issue a parallel constitution in the nine districts that they claim to be a Limbuwan state on the basis of its historical background.
Party General Secretary Khagendra Makhim read out a letter that decreed all the organisations, government offices, schools and vehicles within the proposed Limbuwan state to use a plate/poster that read ‘Limbuwan state’.
The press statement issued by the party stated that as part of their third-phase protest they would capture the headquarters and cities. The protest would continue unless the past agreements reached with them were implemented, read the statement.
During the conference, senior leader Kamal Chharahang opposed the idea of general strike that would follow if their demands were not met. He ordered Makhim to remove the word general strike.
Chharahang also announced his resignation from the Limbuwan Agitation High Level Committee saying that the protest programme was decided without his consensus.
