Samakhusi area remained tensed on Friday after the death of notorious gangster Kumar Shrestha alias ‘Ghainte’ in police encounter on Friday. Nepali Congress cadres and youth supporters of Shrestha gathered in the area causing obstruction to traffic and enforcing banda.
Vehicles plying on the road and shops remained closed due to the protest.
Earlier in the morning, Ghainte’s supporters had organised a protest rally in Samakhusi against the police and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam.
Gangster Shrestha was gunned down by police at Kapurdhara in Samakhusi, Kathmandu, on Thursday. Police said he was killed as they fired back in self-defence.
