Deuba to press for early execution of pancheswor
Former prime minister and senior Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Wednesday embarked on a weeklong visit of India where he is scheduled to meet a host of Indian leadersThe visit of the senior NC leader, which comes just weeks after Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and at a crucial juncture of the constitution drafting process, is seen as New Delhi’s bid to gauge the latest status of Nepal’s politics, internal politics of the NC which is preparing to stage its 13th General Assembly in September.
But Deuba refuted such suggestions. ““We will discuss on matters related to the constitution and others. But I don’t have any specific agenda for this trip,” he told reporters before his departure, at the the Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday. He, however, said he would definitely push for an early execution of the Pancheshwor project.
Deuba is meeting Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Thursday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. He is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee. During his stay, Deuba is slated to meet National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary S Jaishanker, among others.
