Education budget lowest in 10 years
Despite increase in the figure, the education budget for the next fiscal year is lowest in last one decade compared to the national budget.

The government has embarked Rs 98.64 billion for the education sector for the fiscal year 2015-16, an increase by over Rs 12 billion. However, there has been sharp decline in the total national budget compared to last year. The education sector had got 13.92 percent of the budget for the current fiscal year which has been dropped to just 12.04 percent for the next fiscal.
The volume of education budget has been continuously decreasing since fiscal year 2011-2012 when the sector got 17.1 percent of the budget for the first time. There has been decline by five percent since then.
Ten years ago, in fiscal year 2004-05, the education sector had got around 16 percent of the total national budget. According to international practice there should be 20 percent allocation in the education sector.
