Expressing gratitude to the donors for their generous contribution to the fund, the Kantipur Foundation on Monday announced the closure of the fundraising campaign.

The Kantipur Media Group’s non-profit charitable organisation had established the fund in the wake of the Great Earthquake to support earthquake survivors.

Assistant General Manager, Corporate, Mahesh Swar of the Kantipur Publications said the collection would soon be handed over to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

As many as 1,755 individuals and organisations contributed money to the fund. The Nepali community in the Gulf, Malaysia and other countries also chipped in significant amounts to the fund.

Kantipur Foundation, which coordinated the fund, had deposited Rs1 million as the seed money.

Century Bank, Asia News Network, PEA Association, Kathmandu Fun Valley, Sarbottam Cement, NIST Foundation, Business Universal Development Bank, International Development Bank and Sunrise Bank were associated with the fund as partners. The foundation had made them partners in philanthropy for their contribution of more than Rs1 million.

The names of the individuals and organisations that donated more than Rs2,000 were published/broadcast on the various media outlets of the Kantipur Media Group while pictures of those donating over Rs 200,000 were published in the Kantipur and The Kathmandu Post dailies.

Besides, there was broad public participation in hami.ekantipur.com, the help portal for the earthquake-affected people launched by Kantipur Digital Corp to inform about the need and availability of the relief assistance.
