ICAPP to convene ‘special conference’ for Nepal

bookmark The International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) is planning to hold a ‘special conference’ with an objective to assist Nepal in its reconstruction efforts in the aftermath of the recent earthquakes. The ICAAP meet held last week in Russia had decided to convene a separate conference to address Nepal crisis by passing a special resolution.

CPN-UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal, who participated in the recently held Russia conference, said the Nepal related special summit will take place within the next month. ICAPP secretariat will fix the date and place of the summit. Nepali team had proposed to convene the summit in Nepal itself.
Leaders from nearly 140 political parties from various Asian countries had participated in Russia conference. Leader Khanal had made presentation on behalf of Nepal and requested to provide additional assistance for reconstruction works. He also urged the participating Asian leaders to appeal various nation to reduce the debt Nepal owes to them.
During the conference, leaders from different nations committed to appeal their respective government to increase the assistance to Nepal.
