Kantipur Publications marks 22nd anniversary
Kantipur Television Network has launched a new TV channel ‘Kantipur Gold’ on the occasion of 22nd anniversary of Kantipur Publications.

Kantipur Media Group Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Kaliash Sirohiya announced the launch of the TV channel that will be dedicated to entertainment and sports, amidst a function organised at Kantipur Publications on Thursday.
“After 13 years of experience on television sector, we have added this new channel dedicated to lifestyles,” said Sirohiya, “The new channel that has emerged as a youngest member of Kantipur Media Group will soon gain popularity and take a new height.”
Speaking at the function, CMD Sirohiya said the country needed the new constitution at the earliest possible in order to take the nation towards stability and prosperity. He advised the journalists to continuously poke the political leadership for the promulgation of inclusive constitution through basic consensus.
“The factual reports presented by our publications have been garnering new readers day by day,” he said, “Millions of our valued readers are our assets.” He mentioned that the news room will be digitised in the coming days.
Speaking at the programme, Kantipur Daily Editor-In-Chief Sudheer Sharma said the country has been facing many difficulties due to the failure to promulgate the new constitution. “Our country has many possibilities,” said Sharma. “But, looking at the current political impasse, an immediate positive situation seems elusive.”
Sharma also said the conventional news writing style has emerged as a recent challenge due to the increasing effect of social media. He also said that efforts will be made to connect with nearly four million Nepali people living abroad with our news.
Likewise, Editor-In-Chief of The Kathmandu Post, Akhilesh Upadhyay, said that people still depend on ‘broadsheet’ to read the authentic news. So in order to maintain this confidence of people on us, we must continue to pay due attention towards the facts and their presentation.
Also, the Editor-In-Chief of Nari (bimonthly women’s magazine) and Nepal (weekly magazine), Subash Dhakal and Prashant Aryal also stressed on the need for combined efforts of all departments for the success of the organisation. The editors expressed their commitment to revise their editions according to the need of time.
Staffers awarded
Meanwhile, the Kantipur Publications felicitated its staffers and journalists on the occasion of its 22nd anniversary.
The best performers of the year were awarded by KMG Chair Kailash Sirohiya.
Roshan Adhikari, Rajendra Manandhar, Nimesh Jang Rai, Upahar Jang Shah, Bidur Khatiwada, Kumod Basnet were felicitated with awards and cash prizes.
Similarly, Paras Bharadwaj, Kabita Aarasi, Niva Acharya, Ram Chandra Kilambu, Sakun Malla, Dil Bahadur Basnet and Dhan Bahadur Tamang were also awarded.
Also, Shekhar Adhikari, Manish Gautam, Thakur Singh Tharu, Kabindra Maharjan, Chandra Maharjan, Kul Bahadur Rajamagar, Min Bahadur Gurung and Kamal Raj Kandel were felicitated with consolation cash prizes.
