UCPN (M) hostage of its own words: Leader Chand
Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader Lokendra Bahadur Chand has said that the agitating UCPN (Maoist) has been trapped in the snare it created itself by raising the issue of ethnic-based statesSpeaking in a news conference organised at Mahendranagar on Saturday, leader Chand said the consensus eluded in constitution writing process due to the very issue of ethnic-based federalism advocated by the UCPN (Maoist).
He said, "The UCPN (Maoist) is however trying to roll back their words now saying they have not demanded ethnic-based federalism. But the people have been aware on the fickle nature of the Maoists."
The former Prime Minister stressed that all political parties should sit at the same place and find out a solution on the disputed issues by internalising the Questionnaire Committee.
Moreover, he also urged the big political parties to fix the date for the promulgation of the new constitution.
According to him, the new constitution is the document for coming generation.
Leader Chanda said there was no compulsion to the political parties to promulgate the new constitution on January 22 as the term of the Constituent Assembly CA) was already set for four years.
