PM’s call abstract: Barshaman Pun
The opposition parties including the UCPN (Maoist) and Madhes-centric parties have given a cold shoulder to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s written invitation for talks.Ekantipur Report
Dubbing the PM’s call as an abstract move, the parties said they will hold a meeting to take decision regarding the PM’s call.
Earlier in the day, PM Koirala called on the opposition parties in writing urging the latter to move ahead in accordance with the agreement of January 19.
However, the leaders from opposition front have not shown positive gesture towards PM’s invitation.
“PM has not been able to deliver any commitment as per our aspirations and demands,” said UCPN (M) Secretary Barshaman Pun. “The PM’s call cannot be termed as fully positive or negative. It is abstract.”
According to Pun, the opposition alliance wants PM’s commitment to draft the constitution through consensus based on 12-point understanding, Comprehensive Peace Agreement and other agreements signed with other parties.
“PM’s invitation did not come in the manner we have expected. We will make public our official response to PM’s call only after discussing the matter in a meeting of 30-party alliance,” said Pun.
