DSP Dipak Thapa at District Police Office, Makwanpur, informed that the truck (Na 4 Kha 1252) was heading to Hetauda from Sarlahi district when it fell off the road at Churiyamai VDC.

Initial investigation of the accident showed that the truck was being driven by the assistant when he lost control over the steering on an uphill road.  

Six of the deceased have been identified as Siyaram Mahato, Jhagu Mahato, Jeet Paswan, Rambali Majhi, Bisesh Yadav and Jangilal Mahato. All of them were the resident of Aurahi-8 in Sarlahi district.

Police said the deceased were labourers heading to Chitwan to harvest paddy plant. They were seated on the bricks and were crushed when the truck overturned.

Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition. They have been referred to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment.

The truck driver and his assistant are on the run after the accident.
