Press shouldn’t be made scapegoat: Narayan Kaji
Former Deputy Prime Minister and UCPN (Maoist) leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that the press should not be made a scapegoat for bringing out the mistakes made by the court.

Talking to journalists at Supreme Court premises during the hearing on a contempt of court case against Kantipur publications and its editorial staffers on Friday, leader Shrestha noted that both the freedom of judiciary and press freedom are equally important.
Shrestha reached the Supreme Court to attend the hearing on the contempt of court case involving the publications and journalists.
“We cannot rule out the possibility that the court does not make mistakes,” Shrestha said, “I believe that the press will not be victimised for making public the mistakes made by court and its judges in a healthy manner.”
Likewise, Nepali Congress Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel, who also reached the court to attend the hearing today at the Supreme Court today, said the court will make a logical decision regarding the case.
Leaders Yogesh Bhattarai, Gagan Thapa, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Gokarna Bista, among others, including lawmakers, industrialists and journalists were present at the Supreme Court today to express solidarity with the press freedom.
The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the Kantipur Publications management and editorial staffs to furnish written reply within five days in a contempt of court case.
