A special squad of Indain security personnel will also be assisting Modi from New Delhi.

Sources said that a team of Indian security personnel will visit Nepal on Wednesday to assess the security situation, and recommend necessary security measures to the Foreign Ministry. The Foreign Ministry will then write to the Home Ministry which will finalise the integrated security plan for Modi's two-day stay.

The airspace will also be closed for 15 minutes before and after the arrival and departure of the Indian prime minister, as per the standard operating procedure at the airport for VVIPs. This closure should be informed by issuing a notice for airmen.

"This closure time could be revised if we get any special request from the Foreign Ministry," said Ratish Chandra Lal Suman, director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

A high-level source said the Tribhuvan International Airport has been put under a special security arrangement for past one week in the run up to Modi's visit. A special Nepal Army force, over 450 officers from Nepal Police, and APF personnel, will also be stationed at the airport on the day of Modi's arrival.

Meanwhile, security around Hotel Hyaat in Boudha, where Modi will be staying, has also been heightened.

When Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s visited Kathmandu for five hours in January 2012, the government had mobilised 3,500 Nepal Police officers and over 2,500 Nepal Army personnel in the Capital.
