Nagarik daily undermined code of conduct in Amako Ghar case: Probe panel
The committee formed to probe the moral allegations against social worker Dil Shova has recommended the council deduct five points form the code of conduct category for the daily.
The newspaper, on February 26, had published a news report accusing Shrestha, owner of an old age home and orphanage Aamako Ghar, of being involved in sexual misconduct of children and the elderly based on an audio tape in which she was supposedly talking to a client.
Following concerns over the validity of the accusations, the Council's code of conduct monitoring sub-committee had formed a three-member taskforce led by former Registrar of Supreme Court Ram Krishna Timalsena on March 5 to investigate into the allegations against Shrestha.
The committee has further decided to warn the daily to be careful while publishing socially sensitive cases in the media as per the Clause 5 of Journalistic Code of Conduct 2003, said a press release of the council.
