Kin of advocate Shanker Bir Singh Basnet, who has been missing since the past two weeks, have accused the government of not being serious in finding his whereabouts.
Ekantipur Report
His relatives suspect that Basnet might have been kidnapped. Basnet is well recognised as an expert of forensic law. He had been looking after the murder case of Karan Singh Basnet and Rita Shrestha where he had found evidences of the involvement of some doctors in the murder case.
"We have urged the police to investigate on the matter several times. But the police haven't taken it seriously as yet," said Yagya Katuwal, a relative of Basnet.
Basnet's family members are in confusion and concerned over various rumors making rounds after his disappearance. Rumors like Basnet running off with a girl and being mentally unstable are making rounds, informed Katuwal. "These types of rumors are being made public to weaken the case. He might have been abducted and those involved are disseminating these rumors," he said.
Kin and family of Basnet have already met IGP Upendra Kanta Aryal, urging him to find Basnet's whereabouts. Morang police has informed that the investigation is underway. Nepal Bar Association has also issued a press release urging to find out the whereabouts of Basnet. Advocate Basnet is a member of Morang Bar Association.
