The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has given a 24-hour ultimatum to remove structures built illegally by encroaching on the land in the Pashupati area.
Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) spokesperson Rewatiraman Adhikari said that the PADT has received information regarding the KMC ultimatum to remove illegal structures built in the Pashupati area which was issued following an inspection by a team from the metropolis.
“The metropolis has not informed us formally about the ultimatum, but we have heard that they have given a 24-hour ultimatum to remove structures constructed by encroaching on the land in the Pashupati area,” said Adhikari.
The trust, on Wednesday, had requested the PADT and KMC to remove structures illegally constructed without informing both the trust, illegal businesses and structures constructed by encroaching trust land.
As per the request, the KMC team reached the area and conducted an inspection and instructed the removal of such structures within 24 hours.
According to the metropolis, the team, during the inspection, found that the Gaushala Dharamshala, operating on 10 ropanis of the trust land, had built structures without obtaining a building construction permit.
The trust land has been leased to the Dharamshala at the rate of Rs 50,000 for one ropani of land per year.
Similarly, more than 20 shutters were found operating without registration in the Pashupati area during the inspection.
