Two labourers die after falling off cliff in Dolpa
The victims, working on a drinking water project in Tiplagaun, were returning with supplies when the accident occurred.Post Report
Two people died after falling off a cliff in Dolpa district. The incident occurred on the road connecting Tiplagaun and Tatopani in ward 4 of Thulibheri Municipality.
According to the District Police Office, Dolpa, the deceased have been identified as 33-year-old Parbati Gharti of Rolpa, and 18-year-old Kiran Bhandari of Rukum West.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Krishna KC said police were informed about the incident only on Thursday morning. “Police immediately reached the site, collected the bodies, and transported them to the district hospital,” he said.
Both victims were labourers working on a drinking water project connecting Tiplagaun. Previously, they were involved in the road construction linking Tiplagaun and Tatopani. At that time, they used to live in a nearby cave, where they had also stored their belongings.
According to police, the accident happened while they were returning to collect those supplies. Gharti reportedly slipped first, and Bhandari fell while attempting to rescue her. Both fell about four metres and sustained severe injuries all over their bodies.
It took police around two hours to retrieve their bodies.
