A man in Salyan was found hanging from a wooden plank near his home, who is suspected to have committed suicide after allegedly murdering his wife on Sunday.

Manoj Budha of Kupinde Municipality-4 is suspected to have murdered his 32-year-old wife Kamala Budha by assaulting her with a hammer and an axe before hanging himself, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Nabin Karki.

The incident came to light after the couple’s three children, who fled the scene, told their neighbours about the crime.

“He first attacked Kamala with a hammer on her head, then proceeded to assault her with an axe on her body,” Karki said, quoting the couple’s son as telling the police.

The body of the accused was found hanging from a wooden plank behind their house.

Police were preparing to send the couple’s bodies to the district hospital for post-mortem.
