Mountainous districts in Karnali provinces have been witnessing heavy snowfall since Monday morning, resulting in extremely cold conditions.
Humla, Jumla, Mugu and Dolpa districts have been experiencing snowfall throwing life out of gear. Provincial Police Office Surkhet said all the flights scheduled to the districts have been cancelled.
It snowed in January last year, but the mountainous districts experienced heavy snowfall in the first week of December this year. Heavy snowfall has also been reported in Limi, Yari, and Chala areas of Namkha Rural Municipality in the highlands of Humla.
Farmers, however, are happy to witness the snowfall.
Takdir Lama, the vice chairman of Namkha Rural Municipality, said that the farmers, disappointed due to the lack of winter rains and snow for a long time, were happy when the snow began to fall.
