Driver Tamang had managed to escape the accident by jumping off the vehicle but succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
One person died in a road accident that took place in Humla on Monday.
Jeep driver Rajesh Hemgunj Tamang, who had sustained injuries in the accident early on Monday, died while undergoing treatment at the district hospital, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhimlala Bhattarai.
The accident occurred after the vehicle, travelling from Simkot to Hilsa, went plunged into Karnali river after falling some 50 metres from the road in Chyachhahara at 7am, police said.
Tamang had managed to escape the accident by jumping off the vehicle but sustained serious injuries.
Twelve passengers, who had travelled to Simkot, the district headquarters, to acquire permits to travel to China, were aboard the vehicle. They were asked to get off after the jeep struggled to drive up an uphill slope.
