Five seriously injured as fire engulfs shop in Salyan

Five persons sustained serious burn injuries after a fire engulfed a shop in Kumakh Rural Municipality-4, Bhandarkhola of Salyan district on Monday night.
Shankar Rana, 24, Yagya Rana, 26, Jeevan Rana, 21, Sanjeev Shah, 20 and Chhetramani Rana, 18, were injured after the shop caught fire at around 8:30pm, according to Police Inspector Santosh Khanal, Information Officer of Salyan District Police Office.
Khanal said all the injured have been taken to Kohalpur Medical College in Banke for further treatment after preliminary treatment at the Chaurjahari-based Mission Hospital.
It is suspected that the fire may have started while lighting a matchstick as petrol was stored in the shop in a jerrycan jar but the actual cause is yet to be known.
The loss incurred by the fire is yet to be calculated, police said.
