The northern region of Humla district in Karnali has been witnessing snowfall since Friday following incessant rainfall in the past week.
Heavy snowfall has destroyed harvest-ready crops in swathes of fields in the mountainous region. Paljor Tamang, ward chairman of Namkha-6 Limi said that they are now worried that they will face a shortage of foodgrains in the coming winter.
Cold weather has also affected herders who have taken their livestock to the upper regions for fodder. Lapcha, Nyalu, Takchi, Tumling and Limi along with Til, Halji and Jang villages have been covered in snow.
Grimet Tamang, a local of Limi, said that the snowfall has affected the travel plans of tourists who went to Lapcha from Takchi to visit Mansarovar Kailash.
According to the District Police Office Humla, reportedly more than two dozen cattle have died due to the cold in Sarkegad Rural Municipality-6, Barai.
