Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,774 with one more death
With 78 new infections recorded in the past 24 hours, the active case count stands at 962, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.Post Report
Nepal on Sunday reported one more Covid-19 related fatality, pushing the death toll to 2,774. The country also recorded 78 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 274,143 with 962 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 270,407 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, 82 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 37 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 26 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, six in Bhaktapur and five in Lalitpur.
In the past 24 hours, 43 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 21 in Gandaki, five in Lumbini, three each in Province 2 and Sudurpaschim, two in Province 1 and one in Karnali Province.
As of Sunday, 2,162,936 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 2,532 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
Nepal had reported two Covid-19-related deaths and 81 new cases on Saturday. Four Covid-19 fatalities and 112 new infections were reported on Friday.
On Thursday and Wednesday, the ministry had confirmed 700 Covid-19 deaths that were not included in the ministry’s official count. The patients had died at their homes before November last year, according to the ministry’s spokesperson. Besides the unreported deaths, the ministry had also reported two deaths and 206 infections.
