Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,975 with six more deaths; national tally reaches 268,310 with 318 new infections

Nepal on Wednesday reported six more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,975. The country also recorded 318 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 268,310 with 3,693 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 262,642 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 383 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 145 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 116 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 26 in Lalitpur and 3 in Bhaktapur.
As of Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 125,324. While Kathmandu has reported 489 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 158 and 113 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 978 individuals from Bagmati Province, 261 from Lumbini Province, 225 from Province 1, 219 from Province 2, 200 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Wednesday, 2,026,726 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,012 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, two new infections were reported in Province 1, four in Province 2 and 192 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 36, 64 and 20 cases respectively. Karnali did not report any cases today.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Nawalparasi (West) Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 165 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 33 others—22 in Bagmati Province, seven in Gandaki and four in Lumbini—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported four Covid-19-related deaths and 348 new infections. Similarly, six deaths and 322 new cases were recorded in the country on Monday and five deaths and 266 new cases on Friday.
