Just as Kaski District Court remanded Rajeev Gurung, also known as Deepak Manange, to two days in judicial custody over a "misbehaviour" case filed against him by Milan Gurung, chairman of the Kaski chapter of All National Football Association, police on Friday arrested Milan.
Gurung had filed a complaint on Wednesday after Manange had slapped him on Tuesday.
"Milan has been arrested on charges of fraud and banking offences," said Deputy Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar KC, the spokesperson of Kaski Police.
Hari Bhakta Acharya, proprietor of Om Gaura Zostel Hotel, in Pokhara had filed a complaint against Gurung on Thursday.
“Milan had booked rooms for the Nepali National women football team for four days at the hotel in September last year. The team had stayed with us during the preparations for the 13th South Asian Games,” Acharya said. According to him, the total bill amount was Rs 215,000; the bill is yet to be cleared.
“On September 30, 2019, Gurung gave me a signed check (of Gandaki Bikash Bank) for Rs 200,000, but when I tried to cash it at Kumari Bank on January 2, 2020, it bounced,” said Acharya.
Ram Krishna Paudel, the operator of Pokhara Creative Award House, a store that sells sports accessories, too had filed a complaint against Gurung on Sunday.
According to Paudel, Gurung had manhandled him when he had asked him for his due payment. "The association owes me Rs 1 million," Paudel said. “On Sunday, Milan came to me for some sports gear. When I asked him to clear the due amount first, he manhandled me."
Gurung has of late found himself amid controversies. He was recently accused of not paying his financial dues to Manakamana Pokhara Cup Football tournament too.
