NRT end APF’s winning streak in National League
The two heavyweights play to a goalless stalemate. Manang and Sankata also couldn’t score in the other match.Post Report
Armed Police Force FC, who were on a four-match winning streak at the National League, were denied a fifth-straight win by the New Road Team at ANFA Complex on Tuesday.
APF had defeated Friends’ Club Kopundole, Church Boys United, Sankata FC and Jawalakhel Youth Club previously. NRT, meanwhile, had won four matches and lost once in their last five matches before facing APF.
Thus, the draw on Tuesday was the first for both APF and NRT. With the goalless draw, the two shared a point each.
At 13 points, APF and NRT are now on equal footing with Machhindra FC. APF and Machhindra have the same goal difference (6), while NRT have 2.
In the other match of the day played at Dasharath Stadium, Jawalakhel Youth Club had a comfortable win over Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club.
Jawalakhel scored four goals past Nawa Jana Jagriti while keeping a clean sheet. It was Nawa Jana Jagriti’s fifth straight loss in the league, while it was a second win for Jawalakhel, which have three losses in five games.
Harish Raj Bhatta opened the score for Jawalakhel in the eighth minute, while Boubacar Cissokho capitalised on a penalty two minutes later to make it 2-0. Before the first half concluded, Yubraj Dhakal made it 3-0 in the 43rd minute.
Nawa Jana Jagriti were able to keep Jawalakhel from scoring further for most of the second half. However, in the 86th minute, Dharbendra Kunwar made it 4-0.
The third and last match on Tuesday, which was also played at Dasharath Stadium, saw another goalless draw of the day between Manang Marsyangdi Club and Sankata FC.
There are two matches at ANFA Complex on Wednesday. Two of the teams that progress from the President League—Chitlang FC and Kankrebihar Club—will play the first match, while it will be followed by Planning Boyz United vs Friends’ Club Kopundole.
