Three Star were made to fight for a 1-1 draw by already relegated Brigade Boys Club as they wrapped up the Martyrs Memorial 'A' Division League campaign in the sixth position while Jawalakhel Youth Club and Sankata Club signed off with 1-1 draw in Kathmandu on Friday.
At the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Three Star rode on a fading moment goal by substitute Dona Thapa to cancel Brigade's early second half lead by Prasant Tamang.
Sunil Khadka put Jawalakhel ahead in the early first half at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar before Uttam Rai restored parity in the second half as both sides signed off with a point in the league.
The outcome of their last league games meant Three Star finished in the sixth position with 19 points. They won four, drew seven and lost two matches. Brigade, relegated to the second division after their last defeat against Satdobato, were confined to the second position from the bottom with six points. They drew three and won one game. The bottom two sides drop to the second division.
Sherpa and Jawalakhel are in the ninth and tenth places with equal 14 points. Sherpa, however, finished ahead of Sherpa by virtue of scoring more goals. Nepal Police Club, however, can overtake them in the standings if they win their last fixture against New Road Team.
Tamang put Brigade ahead in the 57th minute taking advantage of miscommunication between Three Star defenders Ashok Khawas and Raphael Bidias Rim. Tamang collected the ball after both the defenders failed to clear the ball in the range released by Brigade goalie Anjal Shrestha providing an opportunity for the midfielder to take the ball towards the opponent post and beat goalie Priso Njanga.
Thapa, who came as a 68th minute replacement for Laken Limbu, scored the equaliser in the last minute of the four-minute stoppage time. Thapa made a one-touch strike to convert forward Ansumana Kromah's pass and rescue a point for Three Star.
In another match, Khadka put Jawalakel ahead as early as in the 14th minute in a counter attack. He paired with Onguna Junior to score the goal at an unguarded post as second choice goalie Rohit Karki was out of his position.
Sankata's Indian forward Uttam Rai restored parity in the 61st minute when he headed to convert Suvash Gurung's corner. With the goal, Rai wrapped up the league campaign with five goals and is two goals behind top scorer Jamoul Anthony Francois of Friends Club.
