The film is written by Samipya Raj Timalsena. Both the writer and director are incumbent members of Nepal Film Critics’ Society.
According to the producers, Gopi tells the story of a young man who wants to stay back in Nepal and work despite the turbulent social and political conditions in the country. In doing so, said the producers, Gopi essays the familiar social and moral dilemmas faced by such aspiring youths at various turns of their lives.
The production team claimed that the film would be highly motivational and entertaining.
Aarohi KC and Shreedhar Paudel will take charge of production and executive production, respectively. Noted cinematographer Shailendra D Karki will take charge of the principal photography.
Director Lama’s debut work Ghampani was a romantic drama which revolved around the ethnic and communal differences between the film’s protagonists, essayed by Keki Adhikari and Dayahang Rai. A former film critic and journalist himself, Lama had been writing about films for a decade before debuting as a director with Ghampani in 2017. Gopi is set to head to production from August 17.
