Written by Lamichhane himself, the film will be directed by Chheten Gurung, in what will be his debut directorial.
With the success of Talak Jung vs Tulke and Pashupati Prasad, Lamichhane’s stock in the film industry has been on the rise. His latest film, Dhanapati, which despite receiving mixed reviews critically, was successful at the box office.
Damaru will see Lamichhane and actor and acclaimed theatre director Anup Baral share screen together again, after 2013’s Manoj Pandit-directorial Badhshala. The cast also includes actor Menuka Pradhan in the lead role.
Though it is his debut diretorial, the director of the film, Gurung, has worked as a writer in films such as November Rain and Diary.
Speaking at the announcement event, director Gurung said, “I have taken the film as a good project to use my experiences in the industry and to broaden my horizon. I am excited.”
The producers have said that the film will border around the social and sports drama genre.
The film will be shot around Ghalegaun in Lamjung, Manang, and Kathmandu.
