Chhakka Panja 2, which released on the day of the Fulpati, has opened to a massive success at the box office—raking in the rich rewards of the festive season.

The producers of the film said that the film has earned around Rs 60 million in the six days since its release.

The details of its revenue from the box office, however, have not yet been unveiled.

The film’s moffussil distributor Bikram Karki said that the production team of the film has asked him to keep the figures under wraps. 

“Of late, a negative trend of overstating gross collections of movies as a tool for publicity has been on the rise. Often those details are false and misleading. Hence we can only reveal the film’s collection once we get accurate details,” Deepak Raj Giri, one of the film’s producers, said, when asked why the official earnings for the film have not been made public. Giri also stars in the film. 

The film, Giri said, has received mixed reviews. “Among the responses we have received, those who go to the theatre for sheer entertainment have come out satisfied while those who go to seek logic have said they are disappointed,” Giri said. 

Chhakka Panja 2, which borrows its name from the 2016’s hit Chhakka Panja, features actors Deepak Raj Giri, Priyanka Karki, Jitu Nepal, Kedar Ghimire, and Buddhi Tamang, among others.

The first Chhakka Panja holds the record for the highest grossing Nepali movie till date.
