The 82nd birth anniversary of poet Haribhakta Katuwal was marked with the staging of a play based on the poet’s poems at Sarwanam Theatre on Sunday. Katuwal is author of poems such as Yo Jindagi Khai Ke Jindagi and Rahar and songs like Daali Daalima, Pokhiyera Ghaam ko Jhulka and Malai Nasodha Kaha Dukchha Ghaau, among others.

The screening was preceded by a literary event that saw Dipak Jangam, Ashok Thapa, Nawaraj Lamsal, and critic Mahesh Poudel, among others, discuss Katuwal’s contribution to Nepali poetry.

Speaking at the event, critic Mahesh Poudel said, “Katuwal is an enigma even for seasoned poets. His works of poetry continue to amaze readers and fellow poets alike. There are no poets in Nepal who have not taken an inspiration from him or followed his path. It can be concluded that he is a trendsetter in modern Nepali poetry scene.”
